Brantley Gilbert will be circling the track at the Indy 500 -- or at least his face will be. The country star is sponsoring rookie driver Sage Karam, and his Indy car will feature the cover image for the singer's new album, Just As I Am.
The CD, which features the hit single "Bottoms Up," will be in stores on May 19th. Gilbert tells the Indy Star that he and his label boss, Big Machine's Scott Borchetta, are both "motor heads and adrenaline junkies," so they'll jump at any opportunity to "do a race thing."
But Brantley adds that he's really in it for the jewelry. He says he has a lot of rings, and is eager to add the checkered Indy 500 championship design to his collection. Gilbert jokes that after discussing this with the 19-year-old driver "at length," Sage knows he needs to win so the singer doesn't have to resort to stealing a ring.
The 98th Indy 500 will take place in Indianapolis, Indiana on May 25th.
